How Much Money Will All This Cost?
A lot depends on how many competitions the fencer enters, how many internationals they are selected for, where you live in the country, and how fast the fencer outgrows their kit.
Obviously fencers living in Scotland or Cornwall will spend more on travel and hotels than fencers living in the Midlands.
A successful Cadet fencer may incur costs (including club membership, kit purchases, coaching, travel, hotels, entry fees and international fees) between £3,000 and £8,000 per year. Some of this cost can be offset by applying for local authority or other grants, or by raising sponsorship.
