What Funding Sources Are There?

Most cadet fencers expenses are met directly by their parents. However, some sources of funding are available, although there is no direct UK Sport or Sport England funding available for individual cadet fencers.

1) Local Authorities. Most local authorities have a scheme to meet some of the expenses of young athletes who live on their patch. This can range between £100 and £1000 - check your local authority website for details.

2) England Fencing have a small fund available to help successful fencers who would not be able to pursue their career without support. Application forms and other details can be found on the England Website here

3) Individual Sponsorship. A whole paper could be written on this, but good results have been had by energetic fencers and their parents who leverage the "Olympic Dream 2012" for all it is worth. For some ideas on sponsorship opportunities click here
